Moses Austin Bryan, 1817-1895, became Stephen F. Austin's secretary in 1832. Bryan enlisted in the Texas army in 1836 and served at the Battle of San Jacinto. He was a member of the Somervell Expedition in 1842, and enlisted in the Third Texas Regiment during the Civil War. Born in Putnam County, Georgia, James Monroe Hill (1818 - 1904) moved to Texas with his family in the spring of 1835, eventually settling in Washington County. In 1836, Hill and his brother John Christopher Columbus Hill volunteered to fight the invasion of Santa Anna’s army. James participated in the battle of San Jacinto, and his brother was a member of the Mier Expedition. Alexander Thomson, Jr. (1785-1863) was an early Texas legislator and surveyor. He formed a partnership with Sterling C. Robertson to take families to Robertson's Colony in Texas. He represented the district of Hidalgo at the Convention of 1832 and in 1835 was a delegate from Viesca to the Consultation. He was married to Elizabeth Dowsing in 1805.
